1866-1870: In North America a war to the death is ongoing between the defenders of the Second Mexican Empire and those who favor the Republic of Mexico. In this background divisions arise in the contending sides as Constitutionalists are opposed to the Juaristas because they feel that President Juarez should have stepped down as called for by the Constitution of the Republic. On the other side Emperor Maximiliano wants changes to help the needy and the Indians but is opposed by a reactionary group. In Europe the Kingdom of Prussia has removed Austria from competing as the unifying force of Germany. In order to achieve their aims they need a war with the Second French Empire which they get. The young, as Paula and Tony, decide to marry and bring some sort of stability to their lives in a world that is changing. show more
